Make a mistake in that fleet, you will get pwned. The talent in it is terrifying. To be in the top five is to be ahead of gold medal winners and multiple world champions.

Prof will be on RTE at about 9pm tonight with Dave McHugh doing a sailing roundup for those interested.

You want old? I raced against Prof in lasers, been mates with him for years. But, and this is where it gets tricky, we both raced against Con Murphy and Cathy McAleavey in lasers at the same time. Very disturbing.

Did you ever race against Richard Wallace then? Great sailor. My brother had David Wallace crew for him in a mirror at the junior helmsmans. Cant see him gerring into one now though. Paul's handy on a boat too. You've got to hate those talented boys. From memory I think their Dad was involved with the Irish olympic team way back too. Might have been the coach.

Taught me in Monkstown. Mind you, much faster than me, given the age gap. Mick was the head of Irish Olympic sailing for years, got some nice results himself. David was a better sailor than Paul, though, just naturally fast.

Weird **** happening in the Finns. H-C just took ten places and a minute off Ainslie. Are there mega shifts happening that aren't showing up?

Ainsley had a major F-up around the fourth mark where he got squeezed leeward and had to gybe back around. Lost about 3 spots and a load of time.

That was the margin, then, because he had about six places on the Dane at that point.

The Olympic Flame Dies, Gets Unceremoniously Relit By Old Guy On a Cherry Picker

    Jesus Diaz
This is not a metaphor: the Olympic Flame has died for real, as technicians were moving the cauldron to a new location in the stadium. Now, they have to sacrifice 12 virgin ping-pong players and start a war with the Persians.

Actually, they just sent some old guy named Austin Playfoot on a cherry picker to re-light it. It looked more ridiculous than majestic, but it did the trick. At least Mr. Playfoot was one of the Olympic Torch-bearers, both this year and back in the 1948 London Olympics.

They, the Danes and Scheidt are all 1:00 behind the winner, 4-5-6. Inches in it, I'd reckon.

Counting a 14, they are right in the hunt. Percy had a good day, though. Two points in it, first to fourth.
