I wonder how clean of a lifestyle these guys have been living. Don't get me wrong, im not making assumptions, it would just be interesting to know as I watched a docu on the English boxing team and I was taken aback at how professional the set up was. I hope Nolan improves, and I think he will against more conventional boxers, however Im not sure how far it will take him.

Well, if the reports that the race was the medal event in which he wasn't a participant so could not affect the result are true he might be OK. I wonder if the IOC will give weight to the obvious revenge/malicious element in the issue and take a lenient view?

There was a nasty selection battle for that Olympics that Peter won, not just because he had better results but on the basis he'd be a contender for these ones (proven right, IMO). There were legal attempts to take him out. I wonder if there's any connection? In passing, the Stars are ferocious. The top of that leader board almost all have Olympic golds in other classes, and you frequently go from the Stars to the America's Cup. The idea that you could influence guys going for the big prize who'd spend more than the winnings on jibs in under a season to get near the medal race shows just how malicious this is.

Sycerika mc mahon just finished 3rd in her heat in the 200 medley and depending on the results of the remaining heats she may sneak in to tonights semis. She swam a lifetime best in a great swim

The book making industry is only a scam at this stage. All they want is suckers that lose repeatedly. The odds are always priced atleast 2 points lower than they should be. A colleague and i have had numerous on line accounts stopped as we were consistently winning more than we lost, then i used my wife's name stopped within 2 weeks. Only for betfair i would not have had a bet in the last two years. Not surprised if they are turning someone in if he score a win against them.

Interesting interview on RTE this morning. It seems unlikely he can be punished for the 2008 bet in this competition - most likely punishment withdrawal of future funds by the Irish Olympic association. But also he made the bet before the 2008 Olympics started so the 'not competing in the medal race' excuse not so strong. But, in the end, looks like an innocent act so probably won't be a hanging offence.

You're not doing too badly in the sailing events so far. Early days yet, but its a good start.

Forecast is for it to start blowing stink mid-week (may well lose a day's racing). Big wind regatta would suit Murphy and O'Leary/Burrows: it's what we're used to, here. By contrast, Ben Ainslie is the lightest guy in the Finns by about 8% relative to the next lightest. If he can be at the front at the end of the upwind legs, he'll vanish downwind, but that's a big ask when it's honking in a boat that requires a LOT of grunt.
