With Mustard still closed for refurbishment, we will not have any official meeting points for the early Irish 6Nations games. However, with lots of requests for suggested venues we will be supporting venues who have helped us in the past the first two weekends. For the Welsh game this Sunday, we have a reserved area in O’Neills Chinatown (Wardour Street) and for the French gameSaturday the 11th we will have an area in the Sheephaven Bay (Mornington Crescent). Please email us to guarantee a seat if you plan to attend either night.

Mustard refurb work is complete and it has re-opened. We will be there now for all games(Munster and Ireland) for the rest of this season....from this weeks update:

Mustard Re-opening (& new name reminder)
We are pleased to announce that the refurb work on Mustard is almost complete, and we will return there for all games for the rest of this season, starting with Ireland Vs Italy this Saturday (kick off 1.30pm).

Please note that as part of the upgrade, the name of the venue is also changing to "Yager" (pronounced like the drink beginning with J!) A permanent Munster section will be on display upstairs in the bar, complete with a signed team jersey and other memorabilia and this will be unveiled in the next few weeks. Extra Munster rugby decoration will be in place during MRSC London events at the venue as always. Keep your eyes peeled for news of events as we build back up to the return of the club game to prominence at the conclusion of this years Six Nations.

The venue now has many more viewing points. The main bar upstairs now has 3 large screens behind it, and the tv near the old dj booth has been raised to a higher level for easier viewing. In the old eating area, the 1 old tv has been removed, and a large screen projector added to that area in its place. The old "VIP" section has a new 3D ready large screen plasma suspended from the roof now too. Downstairs, the old bar has been totally demolished and replaced by further seating area's. The number of viewing points in the downstairs bar has been increased from two to five.

I'm thinking of popping across the paris on Saturday to watch the match on Sunday. I've never been and wondered what is the best (cheapest) way of getting there and where is the best place to stay?

P.S. saw 2 tickets for the english match going for 1,250 so I don't think I'll be making it to see that one.

They will definitely have it there. Sheephaven is the name of the place.

    Edit

If you have a Sky Norn Ire account, you get Rte1, Rte2 and TG4. You don't get TV3.

For some mad reason, Sky think I live in Belfast, so they have blessed me with these channels.

I watched the Leinster game last night at the Corrib Rest, Salusbury Road (near Queens Park). The bar staff are familiar with me now and I just ask them to put it on. They have many screens and will change one or two for you, but mostly without sound which can be good as I do not particularly like some of the commentators, but it can also be awkward as the other customers must think there is this mad woman who jumps up and reacts to the play.

You did well to find the game at all. The no sound issue is a significant one alright, and in central London very few venues will show all games in full sound. Plenty happy to cherry pick the big games and let you hop for the smaller magners games in our experience.

The Sheephaven (Talked about above) is a great little spot and if more central would have been home for our official operations in London. We are aware of a few other pubs out in Clapham and other Irish populated area's that show the games too, but centrally, the list is very very thin.

Our official base, Yager (formally known as Mustard) will show every game with full sound FYI. We should have a few hundred for the Leinster game next Saturday night should you not want to watch it in silence! A few spare tickets for the England game last week were also floating around there so its developing other uses too!

Thank you for the information above. I watched Leinster versus Ulster last night in the Corrrib Rest and he put the sound on as well. The sheephaven would be fairly near for me, but the other places are a bit far. The corrib is fairly close and they do a fairly decent roast dinner!

    PS

You'd be better getting the train to London Bridge .. then any bus to the City. Much quicker.

My flight only gets in at 9.40pm. Direct from Gatwick to the Sheephaven methinks.

Hey all, can anyone tell me any good places to watch the games in London this season? Watched the last 3 in Brentford but myself and the lady are the only 2 there. It's grand but coming into the big games i'd like some atmos. Last year we went to O'Neills between Covent Garden and Holborn to watch HC games. Just wondering is there anywhere with a few more rugby heads for the bigger Rabo games, Ospreys and then the Leinster game?

    Cheers!

Hi, our official London HQ (Yager- directions below) shows all Munster games, in full sound, with the Irish coverage when being covered by one of the Irish broadcasters, regardless of any clashes with other sports. To date this season we have had 25 to 50 people for the various games...this should pick up in the coming weeks with the bigger games and we got a few hundred for the Leinster games the past few years.
Its hard in central London to get a venue that will show every game regardless of what it clashes with/& with full sound. We heard of many places that once a big football game is on, either dont show the game, or put it on a smallr screen in the corner somewhere without sound. Of course some bars will put on the big games, but sadly most venues ignore the vast bulk of our smaller RaboPro12 games. The O'Neills you mention is no more, the owner is still the same but they have rebranded it recently so not sure what it shows now. We used it a lot 2 seasons ago, but ultimately the service for the smaller games was poor and for the bigger games we were too big.

    Directions/Location:
Yager Bar (http://www.yager-bar.com/) , 2-3 Old Change Court, Peters Hill, London EC4M 8EN
The nearest tubes are: Mansion House (.15 miles) St Pauls (.2miles), Blackfriars (.2miles) Bank (.3miles)
The nearest over grounds are: Blackfriars (.2miles), Cannon Street (.3miles)

There is always a few watching games in Jono's in Ealing Common. Connolly's in Chiswick normally shows games too. Both close to Brentford.

Guys - would Vicarage Road to Heathrow be possible for a 7.25 flight after the Saracens match? Happy to do it by taxi if it's easiest.

Yes - provided that you head straight out after the game. You are only three junctions away on the M25 and at that time on a Sunday you should be fine. The big challenge will be booking a cab that will turn up and collect you, not some ghoul pretending to be you. I don't know of any reliable cab firms in that next of the woods, although I am sure they exist.

Thanks a million. Been resisting all along but tempted now. How much in a cab would you reckon - £60ish?

  34. #119
Depends really- in a black cab, probably more, so avoid them...

Pre book a taxi and it will be much cheaper, a quick google shows up a few frims, eg http://www.watford-taxis.co.uk/ showing prices Watford-Heathrow for GBP35.

I dont know that company myself...

The below is good advice, and if you have a smartphone or ipad etc, download the app...both are reputable firms and they wont leave with some one else! :

Pre- booked taxi hire often works out much cheaper than rail or bus tickets if traveling in a group of three or more. Please note this does not include just hailing the regular black cabs. Black taxi's are expensive, and uncomfortable for airport trips and indeed any trip over 15 minutes long while in London will be cheper in a pre-boked cab. Pre-paid companies charge fixed fares and use good quality vehicles.
Try http://www.addisonlee.com/services/a...ort-transfers/ or for price comparison across multiple firms, http://www.kabbee.com
. Both of these have smart phone apps which can save time when booking.

    - This article originally said Rob Penney had missed out on the Munster coaching job. That information was incorrect.
