    Terry's father admits drug dealing</span>

The father of England and Chelsea defender John Terry pleaded guilty today to a charge of supplying cocaine.

Edward Terry (56) of Chafford Hundred, Essex, admitted dealing the drug when he appeared before magistrates in Basildon.

He spoke only to confirm his personal details and enter a guilty plea.

The court was told he sold cocaine worth £160 to an undercover reporter from the News of the World in a winebar in Chafford Hundred last November.

Terry's lawyer Neil Saunders said his client had been targeted by journalists because of his son, and was embarrassed about the upset it had caused.

“(He) was targeted by the News of the World, ” Mr Saunders told the court. “They spent seven weeks, four nights a week, trying to find out something about him to use on the front page.”

Mr Saunders said Terry had been out with friends and had drunk a “considerable amount”.

He added: “Of course he is embarrassed for the upset he has caused to his son - and that is the reason he was targeted.”

Terry was freed on bail and will be sentenced at Basildon Crown Court on June 1st.

John Terry (29), who was stripped of the England captaincy in February following newspaper reports about his private life, is due to lead his Chelsea side out in Saturday's FA Cup Final against Portsmouth.

What a crock of sh*t! There was far more evidence against Terry than the Suarez incident at Liverpool and yet Suarez gets a massive suspension and Terry (the Englishman) gets cleared. Complete disgrace.
Of course Harry Rednapp was also as guilty as hell in his other court case for tax evasion, but unbelievable he got cleared, because he was "Good old Harry". How corrupt is the English legal system?

Suarez was dealt with by the FA, who decided, according to the balance of probablilities, that he was guilty. Terry's was a criminal trial, which requires far higher burden of proof. There is nothing stopping the FA from charging Terry in a similar manner than they did with Suarez.

Are the chances of that happening very slim indeed?

Very very slim indeed given that a court of law has just found him not guilty.

The fact that a court has found him not guilty does not in any way prevent them from going through the same procees they did with Suarez. They are different offences with different standards of proof applied.

But I would be shocked if the FA did anything about it. It is easy for them to do nothing now.

Agreed Speedee. I think they will wash their hands of any further action now, using the court verdict as a shield.

It does not stop the FA,but as you said it gives them a big excuse to run away from it.

In that case, a player in the same situation as Suarez could insist on being found guilty in court first before accepting a ban in Football court, accepting the difference being Evra complained immediately where Ferdinand only complained when he saw the video,

In reality no one heard Terry say anything offensive directly to anyone, how could he have been found Guilty.

Nobody else heard Suarez except Evra. TV couldnt see suarez say anything, yet TV could pick out Terry saying what was accuded of saying. One rule if your English, and another for non-english

I wouldn't agree with that at all. From memory only Suarez did say he called Evra a name in Spanish which basically was racist, though in common usage in his native country. Terry did not at any stage accept he called him anything of the type. Now Terry does not strike me a very decent type but if your not guilty then regardless of who you are the law should apply. As for comments from Garth Crooks he seems to me to be totally biased in his comments and should really be sacked by the BBC as a result.

To be honest both of them seem like g*bsh*t*s to me but having been found not guilty in a court of law it is difficult now for the FA to convict him.

The victim in this said nothing about it until it was pointed out to him much later what may have been said, there is video evidence without a doubt but nobody complained who heard it at the time. Terry's explanation, while extremely hard to believe can't be totally denied.

Evra actually heard something at the time and complained immediately.

None of this diminishes the fact that Terry is an absolute arse.

I think Taz is spot on, if the FA tried to ban Terry they'd be struggling to back it up. Thing is he could take them to court on the basis of effectively he's being punished for something a court has already said he is innocent of. I'm pretty sure that has happened before.

Terry is a chav scumbag but it's difficult to keep pushing this kind of thing when even the "victim" has said he didn't want to get involved, the victim's brother has just happily joked about a racist comment on twitter, no one at the time had a massive issue, the victim has now admitted he was verbally abusing the guy to provoke a response, I mean it's a total mess and any chance of the FA had has been totally removed by everything that's come out of this. Suarez was way, way easier since it was just the two of them without all these complications.
