He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck either, but a real duck that was actually lame. Maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.
Clermont were pretty poor, as they have been on the road for most of the season. Nice polo shirt that Toulouse top Noves was wearing
Always
Montpellier beat Racing - 26-25 - Poite was the referee so the scoreline is probably no indication of the match actually played.
Toulouse v Montpellier final.
And CSBJ (Bourgoin)'s sad descent to rugby's lower regions continues:

""Taken hostage" by the situation of their club, demoted by a Federal bodies of rugby but who fights to keep his place in Pro D2, the rugby players of CS Bourgoin made a bang this Monday morning . Gathered at the Stade Pierre Rajon, they lit a fire of protest on the ground attached."

A 130kg no 8 and a 145kg prop, and they're youth!!! Where is the sport going? Are we past the time when players the size of Stringer/S Williams will get pro contracts, as they would have 15 years ago?
I don't think so. Plenty of players punching well above their weight so to speak. If they're skillful enough you'll get a game regardless of your size. Names off teh top of my head..............Leigh Halfpenny, Tom Brown, Greg Laidlaw, Paul Marshall, Francois Trinh-Duc, Freddie Michalak, Morgan Parra, Clement Poitrenaud, Pat Lambie, Gio Aplon, Nic White, Ben Smith, Aaron Cruden.
That's what makes the game so good. Really is still a place for the fat blokes, tall lanky blokes, big hard f*ckers, nippy midgets, bulldozers etc

Taz-Where did you get that information as I have seen nowhere that he(Penney) was ruled out?

ST €35 million!! That is a serious amount of cash...

28 Feb 2012 - Gilmore on a yes vote for the fiscal treaty
"A vote for economic stability and a vote for economic recovery."
I can't juxtapose the final Top 14 table beside Taz's list - but the similarity is clear:-
1. Toulouse
2. Clermont
3. Toulon
4. Castres
5. Montpellier
6. Racing-Metro
7. SF Paris
8. Bordeaux
9. Biarritz
X. Agen
11. USAP
12. Bayonne
The Castres placing is a bit flukey, but that is mainly because they had a really good run while the RWC was on and most of the other T14 teams were missing key players. SF Paris clearly underperformed - hence Cheika's early exit.
2012/2013 Season kicks off this weekend, and I saw that there is no live coverage of any games on ESPN or Setanta Sports this weekend.
Looking further into it, and the list of Live Sports on ESPN, does NOT contain Top 14 rugby.
Have they lost the rights?

We have it on Eurosport in Oz. Do they have the rights at home aswell?
Toulons backrow was immense, Steffan Armitage (drugged up or not), Joe Van Niekerk (who i feel is probably the best SA backrower about at the moment and Chris Masoe. I reads like a list of whose who in dynamic and exceptionally powerful backrows!!
Very worrying that they didn't cross the white wash tho!! For a backline of that calibre and a pack that is as dominant you'd wonder why they don't score more tries out wide with Palisonn and David Smith
And don't forget Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe too! I can't actually think of a better squad of players in Europe right now.
Props: Jenkins/Hayman/Sheridan
Hookers: Bruno
2nd Rows: Botha/Shaw/Kennedy
Back Row: Armitage, Van Niekerk, Masoe, Lobbe
Half Backs: Durand/Wilkinson/Michalak
Centres: Giteau/Bastareaud/Kefy/Mermoz
Back 3: Palisson/Smith/Armitage
And I'm sure I've forgotten a few too!
It seems like Setanta have the coverage alright.
They showed Toulouse v Castres on Friday night.
Poor game, but the new Maka looks like a MONSTER !

Clermont won away another poor match lots of aimless kicking apart from one passage of off loading from Clermont which created the try . With regard to the budgets those figures include all operating costs/staff etc to get playing budget pretty much halve , still massive compared to Irish provinces on about 5m- 6m .
I was wondering if my memories of McAllister were right or not.. I didn't remember him being that bulked up before ...
Still free kicks in the scrums for early engagements, but at least they were blatant compared to the jokeshop last year. BTW it was our good friend MR Poite on duty for that match which may have had some influence on the quality of the match.
the coaches were going nuts on the touchline for large parts of the game.
