The Tralee and Kilfeacle games APPEAR to be the only hard ones to call...

    Newport Youghal Newport

    Presentation Mallow Rathuard

There are some debatable calls here but my reasons are as follows, based on only one round of the league and on Shield matches played so far:
Island over Thurles marginally only due to home advantage and Thurles having drawn with Muskerry in Thurles (L) and lost to Youghal (S). Island have played 2 Cup matches and won both, and have home advantage, a long trip for Thurles. But could be really close and a slight away win would not amaze. Oft times relegated teams need a round or two to settle again. Besides, I must back Island!
Youghal have been in good form, having won all 3 so far in Shield and League, and have already beaten Newport in Shield. AFAIK, all wins at home though.
Mallow are on a real roll and have beaten 2 handy teams in Shield (Killarney & Kinsale) and had a big League win away V Bandon. Looking like title winners even now. Addition of ex-Bruff Andrew Cashman at most back positions a real find fro Mallow - AIL only last season AFAIK. Away to tough Pres is the type of match one just must win to gain a title - also Pres not quite the team of early last season, and Stephen Ryan departed, a major loss. Pres already one league win, but at home to a Carrick team that will struggle IMHO (sorry carrick).
Killarney, despite losing to Mallow in Shield (no disgrace there) and Ennis away in League. A coming team these past 3 seasons and have home advantage. If they are to mount a serious promotion challenge then they have to win this one, against a team with a very long journey and with 2 losses in L & S.
Calling this a potential draw, Ennis V Muskerry. Iniscarra always a difficult place to go for a win, and an away draw in recent Div 1 team Thurles will be encouraging. Though they lost in S v Island, they were away and it was really tight. Ennis Have won 2 out of 2 in S and L so far. Hard to call.
Kinsale would be seen by many as a team with a chance of a good league, and after losing away to Youghal in wk 1, and with a loss to Mallow in S, will need to win this one at home to stay in it.

    What do you think John123?

Thanks for that IC, I agree with all your predictions EXCEPT for the Ennis match (quelle suprise!)....

Just think Ennis will have a bit too much quality for them, conditions will be important though. If it's wet it's anyone's game. The other tough game to call is the Castle game but think ye will just have too much for them.

Looking forward to it, these early games tend to define the season.

Agree John123, and with only 12 league matches, losing 2 puts real pressure on. Killarney huge up front but your lads are solid also. Main reason for suggesting open verdict is the fact that Killarney as a club with big ambitions, with one loss, and first home game, have a lot on the line Sunday and will do or die.
If Ennis get an away win Sunday, the future is good, and a cup run to keep the fires stoked, interest going and a buzz about the place.
Hoping to rearrange October Bank Holiday Sunday to go to Ennis, but fingers crossed.

Hard luck, but Iniscarra a hard place to get anything from - bonus points always welcome though. My prediction not too far off the mark though?
'Island beat Thurles 20-3 and are off to a good start. Phew! Relief.

As a Division 2 club supporter, realise that there are clubs beyond Division 1. Where do amalgamated club play? long trip for Scarriff, who were unlucky to be relegated. Good result for Rebel boys.
