Well done ger123 get the ball rolling early!!! Nearly agree with you,for my money Waterpark are going to be the poster boys this year,Richmond,Mary's and Cobh yes,Tralee and Kanturk no I think,I heard Kanturk lost badly yesterday to Mallow in a friendly and also lost to Castleisland the week before, Tralee traditionally do not start the season very well.

NAH, Mallow lost to Kanturk 10-7 in a tight game. Mallow only had half of their starting team due to unavailabilty and injury. Kanturk had their full team and from what transpired from the game, kanturk look dodgey for the season. Wouldent be expecting the same heights that they reached last year for this season.

Who were kanturk missing?were dan mc cabe and drachma Meade playing bcos they would be kanturks best players at 8 and 10......

  8. #4447
Quick question. I need to clarify a point. Can rugby clubs pay medical bills on behalf of players i.e. not just physio but operations etc?

Point raised at a committee meeting.

    Thanks in advance.

They can, anybody can pay a hospital bill, but why would they? Insurance for things like that should be the players look out

Thanks but im not sure thats correct. Anyone could pay a mortgage bill or for a holiday also, and I'm not sure that would be aloud. Vouched expenses for games and max €250 per game is whats stipulated by the IRFU

jesus christ, the crosshaven lads have some neck, the rules state there are no free weekends.

What happens the Challenge Cup now? with the fixtures already pushed back those pricks have upset it even further.

    Re: Munster Junior Leagues

To this outsider it seems that the Branch is the entity that needs to get its house in order so challenges like this don't arise.

I'm basing this opinion solely on what I've gleaned from lurking on this thread.

This is the problem, the branch has worked hard for the past few years to put its house in order and a certain few clubs around the province are used to doing what they please, unfortunately for them even an amateur sports organisation needs a level of professionalism, considering it is the foundation for a professional setup it is essential.

If a club wants a jolly boys wekend away it should be done in pre season, had the Crosshaven committe, coaches, players, management whatever read the rules they would have notced that it clearly states fixtures are open to change and there are no free weekends.

In regards all the other messing from clubs in regards court cases and hearings, bitching and moaning and appeal after appeal it would be nice if these clubs went about their business playing Rugby for a change, if my own club pulled that kind of stroke I would be embarrased.

Same Old Crosshaven!! A few years ago they screwed Senans over saying they would re-arrange a game and next thing you know crosshaven take a walkover!!

  28. #4465
I dont blame crosshaven here, probably had a lot of money paid to inchydonney hotel or wherever they r going for their spa and facials weekend, munster branch yet again made to look like a joke cant wait for the rugby to start a proper!

You asked can they not should they.

I know least one club that have it in their player welfare program that they pay for injuries sustained at training and in matches and have a budget put aside for it and it isn't considered payment to players. This club does not pay or give expenses to players or, to my knowledge, pay the coaches.

However, they have a physio, doctor and a hospital ready for this and the club makes the appointments with each and gets the reports.

The player is never billed so it's not an expense.

Would have a fair degree of sympathy for Cross here notwithstanding what the rule book might say about free weekends. When the fixtures were issued originally I think it was reasonable to assume this was a weekend you could have organised a training weekend.

Going to court over the issue is a joke by both parties though, especially considering the problem was created by the branch themselves!!
