I don't think Kilfeacle did anything wrong.
This is my take on it. Kilfeacle won game fair and square. Clanwilliam put in an objection Junior comm threw it out happy that there was nothing in it.
Clanwilliam appealed to Senior Branch and won. Kilfeacle then relegated.
Kilfeacle threatened legal action and Senior comm backed down deciding to leave both Kilfeacle and Clanwilliam in Division 1, as it was obvious Kilfeacle would win in court hands down.
Junior comm have now decided if that if Senior comm decide to leave Kilfeacle back in then Clanwilliam must go down as its messing up their leagues both Division 1 and 2.
If anything its Clanwilliam who are making a mockery of the system.
They are appealing on a technicality or loophole in the law which leaves every result open to question.
Better off taking defeat on the chin, going away and doing the rebuilding they obviously need to do.

Jesus, Kilfeacle would NOT win hands down. They'd be lucky to win at all. It has been tried in Leinster, in similar circumstances, and it was thrown out. That is the precedent. That's the law on the subject. The senior branch shied at a paper tiger.

IF the ref did actually instruct them that they didn't need to hand over the sheet to Clan til after the match then they would win it hands down.

No, they wouldn't. They had fair procedure, and availed of it. They lost. That's what counts. Procedure, not merits.

Completely agree. Everyone is mad to bash kilfeacle here. It's Clan who tried to pull a fast one, not Kilfeacle. They have just retaliated and rightly so.

True, Kilfeacle won the match, a piss poor Clanwilliam team had their club appeal on a technicality, when that technicality was found to be the branchs fault Clan came back again throwing their toys out of the pram. Kilfeacle deserve to be in Div 1 on playing merit. Clanwilliam deserve a kick in the hole for escalating this beyond normal procedure.

Couldnt agree more. Clan should be relegated and Kilfeacle stay up.
Then we are forgetting about Galbally.....Thats harsh on Clan..... What a mess.
Please god they'll make a final decision soon and let the rugby start so we can forget this whole sorry mess.

It cannot be the branches fault if a team does not give the opposition a team sheet.

The referee does not advise on these matters and never has. If there was no extra duplicate copy then you write it out again on either the next sheet or a seperate sheet.

We have all had to do it for different matches over the years.

And all a Court looks at is procedure. You may feel it's harsh, it may well be harsh, but if it's harsh according to proper procedure, tough. Procedure, not merits. As I said: they shied at a paper tiger.

Relegation is a very, very hard thing to reverse if you cannot manage it first time out. Dunno if Kilfeacle would necessarily have found it as easy as everyone seems to think. Maybe yes, maybe no, but relegation can cause the older lads to pack it in often. You can argue that they have punched above their weight since foundation, in both underage and senior. It is unarguable that clubs outside of the bigger population centres are prone to cycles of strong teams and weak teams. Remember some years being in Kanturk, and seeing them and Senans battling for the top spot in Division 3. Both fairly solid Div 1 clubs now but it can all change rapidly. Will be interesting how Thurles react, a club from a solid big town with a fair tradition.
Fancy Div 1 to be: 1st Richmond; 2nd Skib (only lack of depth will keep them off top IMO); 3rd Kanturk, if all players, esp McCabe stay and stay fit.
You Shouldn't mention people by name in posts, especially if they are from your own club.

  20. #4305
12 3 surely a bad result for richmond and a good one for ennis dont ye think

  21. #4306
Good Result for richmond, under a new coach, lost some serious players and brought in new faces. To get a win in those circumstances is always a great start!!

Ya it is, wasn't happy with being moved from backrow to hooker and wanted to move back to the backrow. Was u20s when G.Murray was coach of their 20s. Be a useful addition.

What happened to the Bar in the clubhouse?

Was there yesterday and the facilites are excellent.

Was the gym and astro pitch financed by the Sports Capital Grant?

Bar was closed, think licence was costing a lot more than they were taking in...I'd imagine other clubs are thinking of doing the same.

Gym was funded by grant, pitch mainly by bank loan afaik.

It's a nice setup up there, but club badly needs another pitch though. 12 teams playing on one pitch not ideal, it's destroyed by the end of every season.

Gym looks excellent, pity about the bar closing down.
I suppose its too far from the Town to have a regular trade!

Is there any room for a second pitch?

Team looks stronger than last year.

Ennis were a lot better then previous years. Richmond were poor so stupid mistakes and poor passing. There was some good performances by new players but some of the other players were poor especially forwards. Big improvement for thomond next week.

Your right about a better performance been needed but wouldn't read too much into that match as it was the first game of the season and a lot of first team players were missing.

I'd say this is the first time in about 5 years that Ennis have had anything resembling a 1st team out in the match vs Richmond. Ennis notorious slow starters but it seems Decky has brought a bit of organisation to things this year.

What players have been brought in?

Hard to see any standout players as it wasn't a great match, Ennis Centre looked quiet good.

To be honest I don't know much about what's going on players wise in Ennis. I just know the team is very young this year and I had heard they were close to signing a good centre. Ennis were missing about 5 of their potential starting team yesterday I heard. Good centre was Brandon I'd imagine, was winger/centre for Thomond for years.
