What a joke this is, leagues will have to be redrawn, the Challenge competitions are only 5 weeks away and they will have to be completely redrawn.

Kilfeacle are good enough to win the Div2 outright so should just stick to it and get back up next year and win a few cups along the way. Clanwilliam despite all their big talk and snideness are behind it all utter useless and fully deserved to be relegated last year and will be relegated this year and good luck to them. If Kilfeacle do get put back into Div1 every club should focus on absolutely destroying the 2 of them to send both of them back down for the year after.

If it was me making the decision both teams would be hopped out of the league for bringing the game into disrepute and let them stew on that for a year before letting them back into Div 3 the year after to work their way up again.

Fancy Mallow and whoever is relegated from 1 as probable promotion candidates. Dark horse would IMO be Ennis. Just a hunch.
As much as I would love to agree with your Ennis hunch I can't see it happening. The coaching will be way better but they have lost Macca to retirement, a 2nd row to retirement, outhalf to injury for the season, centre has moved away. A lot of young guys coming thru though which is a positive for the future. Last yeat Ennis would have had a shot if there was a decent setup, got bonus points off all the top teams.

Has it been ratified that Kilfeacle are still in DIV 1.

No but rumour has it the branch are bending over backwards to cover up all their mistakes and save a packet on court cases and let them back in no questions asked.

My guess would be Mallow. Kinsale too flaky.

Almost every team has lost players, to Aus. mainly, and IMO a reasonable season, losing max 3 and picking up bonus points when doing so, will put any club well into position.
My lot are away to The Hill Top Boys (???), then home to Killarney (local derby) and then away to Newport. Those few games will tell a lot. Any club making a decent start is in with a shout of top half of table and after that.......Plus I just cannot see anyone else, unless recruited hugely, being a 'dark horse' side. We are looking to stay in 2 again, despite losing players in key positions, and I think that there are a number of clubs with a similar limited aim.

Is it correct that the Branch did not involve the Appeals Officers but went to a select sub-committee instead? If so, made a stick for their own back which Kilfeacle will use to flog them. With the venom historically between the two clubs and fact that the MB deemed it necessary to send a full team of match officials to the match, surely everyone should have been doubly on notice. If both clubs are in Div 1 this year, may be necessary to loan the Limerick-based Armed Response Unit to the match security.
It is a disgrace, pure and simple, and along with the Galbally situation, making a joke of procedures.

Thing is, any club taking it to Court would have to join any other clubs affected as notice parties. The cost to that club of that could be huge. It should be faced down.

when will be know the final decision on the kilfeacle/clan issue?

Nothing seems to be confirmed by the branch!

  17. #4245
I heard yesterday the decision to relegate Kilfeakle stands...

  18. #4246
Have to say tough call if true. IMO Clan should have taken defeat on the chin and accepted Junior comm's decision. They were beaten fair and square by Kilfeacle, were the 2nd poorest team in the league and deserved to go down. Cant see it ending here either. Kilfeacle to take legal route and probably win, not a fan of this option for a club but after the way they are being treated good luck to them on that. Along with Thurles, IMO Galbally should have been relegated, then Clan and then Kilfeacle in that order. Wouldnt be the greatest fan of Kilfeacle down through the years but feel they have been screwed over here. Whats to stop it happening to other clubs next season?

Even with all this mess are any teams organising challenge games this weekend? Usually provide the early indication of teams strengths for the season.

  20. #4248
Has anyone got any opinion on who will win division 1? Hard to look past Richmond and Kanturk. Is it true that Tralee have signed Fergal Walsh, good signing it true.

  21. #4249
ya he is a good player but dont think they will be in contenition this year cant see past richmond

  22. #4250
I can see past Richmond this year...reckon there will be a big surprise for he all this year...from what I've heard 1team have recruited very well and have a lot of injured players returning to them this year...that is all!!

  23. #4251
I think its between Richmond and Skib... Sounds like Skib have got some good players from Con's....

Good analysis. Great to see Junior Rugby getting a bit of attention. I'm now a knockon.ie convert!

Excellent coverage but the analysis isn't accurate. For instance the St Mary's outhalf is not their key player by a long shot. They have a very good pack with but don't get their backline moving at all.

Yeah some of his predictions are hilarious, unless Mary's have signed 4-5 quality players I think they will finish mid table, as will NCW who are of a similar standard. I do agree Clan are fooked though...I think most people would.

Fergal Walsh is a good signing but it's good backs that make a bigger impact at this level.

Few strange calls like Marys 2nd, justified how? also mentions darren o keefe and murray kinsella as top men for cross and waterpark for the season, fair call but both lads heading abroad for work/rugby for d year! think richmond will finish top 2 and dont think kanturk will win it my money is on skibb/galbally

  34. #4260
The knockon.ie article is interesting but you would really need to be inside a club to know what's going on. Who's retired, injured what the extended squad looks like, whos not back to pre-season yet etc. From reading that piece it looks to me that almost all the clubs are depending on one or two key players players and if that's the case injury or emmigration could decide the league.
