Bruff have always been like that, said it years ago about them. Its all about who you know there, they had one player on the senior team for the last 7 years cause he was friends with the coaches/captain and his family were high in the club. He woudlnt have made the richmond back line.

And i know they approched 2 richmond Backs this year to play with them and they both said No.

ha ha heard about that. They asked Braq to come back to them and he said started laughing at them. Says a lot about a club when one of your own players wont go back playing with them.

They have truely forgotten what it was like as a junior club. They have been talking to plenty of junior players this year, they are in trouble this season as they lost about 5 key players.

Who have they lost? I know malone went during the season last year, shine gone to shannon, cashman back to mallow, is regan the hooker gone too? tony cahill and foster the prop gone to Oz. Shine is a massive loss for them, best player for the last couple of seasons.

Thats disappointing to hear that Bruff's attitude towards dual status has changed (Unless this young chap will start than dual status wouldn't really matter), is it likely he'd start with the 9 there from last season? I saw him last yr and thought he was a 2nds standard player (9 for Bruff). Is the prop the same lad that went into YM last yr? Is he going back in there?

Sorry but i dont see what Bruff have done wrong here?!! They had a good scrum half training for a few years with the U20s from a junior club, think he has potential and signed him. Dual status is a bit of a disaster from the senior clubs point of view, hardly surprising they're trying to sign him fully......

I think you mentoined most of them, Shine to Shannon. Foster and Tony to OZ - Tony has been one of there best players. Andrew back to mallow, Winger cant play - didnt he hurt himself at the end of last season and was planning on going to dolphin anyway. Centre carroll retired. I dont think regan is good enough for that level anymore.

If you read the previous posts you'd see its due to Bruff signing players from current junior clubs

Yes, the prop is a Currow man, who started rugby late (early 20s) and trained with YM last year. Decent Junior prop but doubt will make the big step up - good for him if he does. Have spoken to club people about 9 - about two years, Island youth officer was asked by Bruff U20 manager if they had a 9 for U20s, and he recommended lad to Bruff. He in turn brought on a beast of a BR and also a prop. Now apparently they say that they are encouraged NOT to be dual status. May be bit of a hassle to be dual status, insofar as seniors are concerned, but club feel their openness to the situation is not responded to by this attitude. A small club, which promotes rugby in a non traditional area and competes with Tralee (11 miles), Killarney (15 miles) and Abbeyfeale (15 miles) for players. Only their work through club youth coaches in local schools and making club facilities available to both local schools FOC holds the line. Not to blow a trumpet, but JJ Hanrahan started playing rugby at 7 with Island minis, and was coached and encouraged within the club until his brilliant play in helping Island win their first Munster title (U16) brought him to the attention of Rockwell. Same situation with this years winning Rockwell captain and underage capped player Sean McCarthy. TBH, we have produced for Munster and Ireland as well as Bruff have. No crime committed, but having spoken to club lads, a bad taste. They expected better than the type of carryon used in more long established seniors. Not to mention that the Bruff 9 of a few years ago, Joe Lyons, was also a product of Island youths.

You mightened like it Isola but unfortunately thats life for all Junior clubs. If you are producing good underage players you are doing something right but they are going to be snapped up by Senior clubs. If they can play at that level best of luck to them. All you can hope for is they come back and finish their careers where it began for them, play a few seasons before they retire, pass on knowledge and experience to current crop of players and help out with coaching of next generation. Its d guys who would rather play senior 2nds than play with their home club that galls me.

    Predictions for next season.
Richmond to win division 1 but not as clear cut as some make out. Wouldnt be too excited about most of their signings either or new coach for that matter. They have lost better players then they have gained. Dont know what to make of Kelliher. Have to admire his loyalty to Richmond but this guy needs to be training with and playing against a higher quality of player to realise his potential. He is well beyond the MJL. A few seasons ago this guy was a serious contender to go all the way but between injuries and jumping back down the grades he could end up being remembered as a good junior player with a lot of unrealised potential....hope not though.
Skibb and Kanturk to push them. Crosshaven under Corkery could be the dark horses here.Rumours of the well drying up in Galbally and an ageing Limerick contingent getting sick of the travelling will drop them back towards mid table.

Div 2 between Kilfeacle, Killarney and Mallow. Kinsale dark horses if they get more Frenchies in. Heard 2 guys they had in backs last year gone to Con.

Div 3 Ballincollig, they have to stop the rot at some stage, and Fermoy to go up.

What happened to Ballincollig? They had a fairly rapid fall back to Division 3,it wont be easy for them either,Charleville,Fermoy,Killorglin,Waterford City and Abbeyfeale are all capable of competing in Division 2 and will be putting in a big push for promotion, not to mention Scariff who were a bit unlucky to get relegated

    Great signing.

    Why will they struggle?
Are the Limerick Hooker and Second Row (Gilly) still with them?

Huge for Tralee if thats true. He's a garda as far as i know so presume he must be stationed down that direction now...surely going to be an interesting league, all to play for despite what some of the Richmond heads think!!

"Despite what some of the Richmond heads think"!!

Have you any evidence on this site where anyone from Richmond's said contrary to what you said?
Richmond have lost two excellent players and as far as we are concerned it’s a very open league.

Also it is very condescending to be referring to people from Richmond as 'heads'.
