While their best was pre 1975 IMHO, there were some good songs after that like Fool To Cry, Miss You, Waiting On A Friend etc

Eminem to play Slane eight years after cancelling tour

    RONAN McGREEVY
Eight years after he pulled out suffering from “exhaustion, complicated by other factors”, rap superstar Eminem will finally get to play Slane Castle next summer.
It will be the first time that Slane has held two shows by different artists in the same year. Eminem (40), the biggest-selling artist of the Noughties, will headline the venue on Saturday, August 17th . Bon Jovi have already been confirmed for the venue on June 15th.
Eminem cancelled his Anger Management European tour just a month before he was due to headline a sold-out concert at Slane in 2005.
The cancellation led to a court case involving promoter MCD and three insurance companies. MCD claimed the cancellation cost it some €2.1 million.
Eminem made his peace with MCD long ago and headlined Oxegen two years ago.
The 2005 cancellation infuriated Lord Henry Mountcharles, who found out through a newswire report that the rapper was pulling the plug on his European tour and, by extension, the Slane Castle concert.
Tickets for €79.50 including booking fee go on sale at 9am next Wednesday.

I wouldn't usually do this, but as a cause (and having worked on a job for Share a Dream recently), doing something for such brave kids when they are faced with a serious illness seems like something we should be doing more often.

A friend of mine put this together for a charity, originally to help with a little girl who suffers from Neuroblastoma. The campaign has done quite well and they are using the funds to help with neuroblastoma research and treatment here in Ireland.
It's a time of year when plenty of charities ask for our support and i understand that this is another, but helping seriously ill children find comfort and respite seems only right at this time of year.

So perhaps you might find it possible to part with an extra euro this year by buying 'Tiny Dancer - a song for Lily-Mae' from iTunes.
    https://itunes.apple.com/album/tiny-dancer/id576441815?i=576441894
If nothing else you might help keep Simon Cowell & his wretched X-Factor from topping the charts! In doing so you'll be helping an Irish charity.
Thanks and i'll try not to do this again.

Major blast from the past for me here. Haven't listened to this in going on 20 years and in fact had nearly forgotten all about them, but loved their stuff as a teenager. For me they were another of those rare little musical refuges amid the poodle-rock and SA&M dross that swamped the mid-to-late eighties. Still stands up IMO.

Never mind perception because it isn’t real. It’s only what people think. Go out and make them think something else.

    Great band.
I'm heading to see Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in March. They are very much influenced by the Jesus and Mary Chain.

The Scots (originally Irish, but by now Scotch) were at this time inhabiting Ireland, having driven the Irish (Picts) out of Scotland; while the Picts (originally Scots) were now Irish (living in brackets) and vice versa. It is essential to keep these distinctions clearly in mind (and verce visa). Sellar and Yeatman

    In
1992 both the Beach Boys and the Velvet Underground had re-formed and were touring and the Jesus & Mary Chain were asked if they were needed anymore.

Thom Yorke's side project 'supergroup'. Album generated from the clicks and whistles he'd left over from making The Eraser

    From pikiwedia:

Atoms For Peace is an experimental rock & electronic supergroup formed in late 2009 in Los Angeles, California. The group consists of Radiohead lead singer Thom Yorke (vocals, guitar, and piano), Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich (keyboards, synths), Joey Waronker ofBeck & R.E.M. (drums) and Brazilian instrumentalist Mauro Refosco (percussion). Their debut album, Amok, became available for streaming on February 18, 2013, and was released on February 25, 2013.
