Just heard on 5live that there's a tribute for bill mclaren tomorrow on bbc1. starts at 1:00 according to the TV listings and is on BBC Norn Iron as well.

Bill McLaren: Flower of Scotland
A look back at the glorious career of the BBC's world-renowned rugby commentator, Bill McLaren, who passed away in January 2010 at the age of 86. With John Inverdale
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/rugby_union/1780627.stm

have to say...it's a nice and very fitting way to start the 6nations coverage this year.

Have to admit that I really did have a tear in my eye at the end of that, especially the look on his face at his last match when the whole stadium were singing For He's A Jolly Good Fellow - he was nearly overwhelmed.  A good man with not a hint of vanity in him.

And they'll be dancing in the streets of Hawick tonight.  Thank you Bill.

A lovely man.

Back in my LR stewarding days he gave me one of his Hawick mint balls!

Sadly I promptly ate it instead of keeping it safely to sell on eBay as a rare piece of BMcL memorabilia.

They are the settings for the "Other Channels" section of a Sky box / dish to be able to watch BBC Scotland. Not a time.

Have added both BBC Scotland 1 & 2 to my channel listings, thank you. Anyone know what time the programme is being shown

Niall Kiely, the chap who wrote the Munster fan's piece in the Irish Times before the semi-final last May had a go at Bill in his column yesterday.

there wasa minutes slience before the game at Murrayfield today. it was impeccably observed, and the camera cut to his widow, daughter and son in law in the crowd.

his widow was quite upset, but it was a fitting tribute to a wonderful man. R.I.P.

Was that the son in law who scored that great Scottish try against England

Very nice tribute was the documentary, didn't know that he had a daughter who died from cancer. What a very decent lovely man he was RIP.

He's a verbose buffoon, or seeing as he likes to employ German words, a total Arschloch.
