Frightfully overrated.
This is one film that really really won't age well.
I'm willing to bet in 5 years time when you are looking at the finale you will be thinking "this chase scene is like an episode of The Unit or 24. Why was this seen as the great Iraq war film? We might as well have given the title to 3 Kings"

I couldnt care less what people think of it in 5 years as long as i enjoyed it now.

Second that on Sin Nombre . Another one to watch is El bano del papa.
Acting is top class. Reminds a bit like Ireland was in 1979 when the
pope visited us .

Watched it last night and thought it was good enough.
Not really a broad statement on the Iraq war though. More a story about the boys than the war. Obviously it hangs over their situations but it doesn't try to make a massive statement. Or if it does I'm to dumb to see it.

The fact that he goes home and longs to return is a trite little piece of social commentary tacked on to a pretty standard movie. It seems to fool a lot of critics into thinking the movie is more than it really is. The best thing about the film is how the tension is built up and maintained during the bomb scenes - that is worth watching, but really, it is the only part of the film that wouldn't be out of place in a Steven Segal film.

For those of you that were horrified at the prospect of Will Smith eating a live octopus and having sex with his daughter I'm afraid to inform you of a new danger called "Let Me In"- a remake of "Let The Right One In". In yet another example of the USA being a country populated with f**kwits and mongs the title was changed because; The American version is called Let Me In because the publishers requested that Lindqvist change the title as they believed it was too long. Link
Dumb it down because f**kwits can't read a title more than 3 words and completely lose the meaning of the title/film. Again, f**kwits of the highest order.

Up in the Air - as mentioned earlier by others. Terrific film IMHO. Blakes 7 and Space 1999 were my sci-fi series of choice. Pleasantly surprised by the Star Trek movie as couldn't be arsed with the sermonising in the TV shows.
Of late, thought Moon and Serenity were good entertainment. Cameron and Lucas could get some dialogue and film budgeting tips from Josh Whedon, oh, hang on . .

Was a bit hesitant about going to see Avatar , eventually got around to it last saturday night, the story and dialogue could be stronger, it some respects thats irrelevant because its absolutely stunning, the special effects alone are worth going to see , 3D may be here to stay.

finally went to see Avatar 3D on Monday night, definitely not an original story by any stretch of the imagination, but the effects were superb. BTW there was a shrek trailer show at the movie which focused on other aspects of the movie compared to LD's link
