Who would you rate as the most improved player in the Munster squad this year? Buckley and TOL deserve honourable mentions but for me it has to be Ian Dowling.

Aye and out of that lot it has to be Dowling for me. I remember just after he came back from that injury there months back I mistook him for Wally (at a distance) because he'd bulked up so much. A regular tank on the wing now...

i dont think dowling has improved a lot this year, i think he was just as good as this last year and before his injury.
most improved, hurley, to take paynes place and keep it requires a lot of game.

Mafi by a mile, then Dowling, TOL and Hurley (has a lot to learn about basic defence but a great attacking prospect)

I have to give to the man from Kilkenny, Dowling has come on in leaps and bounds this year. He showed us what he had the potential to do in that crucial Sale game of 2006, he died for a while and then came back with vigour and strenght. Fair play to Dowling, he is an excellent asset for Munster and hopefully an international career may beckon for him.
Tomas has also improved considerably over the course of the season but I think that he needs a little bit more work to be considered excellent. Next season shall be interesting as I think playing under the ELV's will suit him.

O'Leary has improved considerably and the good news is that there's plenty room for more improvement, mainly with his passing. He's getting coaching and obviously needs to practice but if he comes good, look out Eoin Reddan.
Has Mafi improved? My impression is that he has come back to where he was when he came first after suffering a drop in form in between.

Mafi just stoped rushing out of the line basically so no massive miracle there, no matter how effective it has been. Hurley and TOL broke into the team but i think thats down more to them being given the chance as opposed to anything else, although TOL's passing has improved a good bit.
Has to be Dowling for me. He was looking at an All Black and a League great in front of him, plus Mafi, Murphy, TOL and Earls even looking like better options than him. The guy worked on his game big time, and really conditioned himself well, making himself more agile and faster, but his workrate is really what has done it. He mightened be everyone's cup of tea, largly down the cut him last year, but i think if people just judged him on this years form they would have to recognise what a good player he is.

Toss up between Mafi and Hurley. Think Quinnie has been in great form for the past couple of years since the injury so wouldn't include him.

You can look at every player to be honest and see alot of improvement in all of them, from Rog and Poc to the way they have improved on captaining the team from last season, to Doc taking the duties on by himself when Poc wasnt about. You have Buckley Hurley and O Leary who at the start of the season you wouuldnt have said they'd get more than a few cameo roles. Mafi has come on leaps and Bounds but Dowlings overall play in every aspect of the game gets my vote
