Great win by Nenagh down in Midleton. A real old fashioned cup match even though it was in the league. Same clubs had a three match saga with extra time back in the 70's in the junior cup, semi-final I think, of which this was truly reminiscent. Well, except for the result.

Maloney the hero as Dolphin come back from the dead
<DIV =LeadPara>A WELL-WORKED injury time try turned this competitive AIB League tie on its head at Musgrave Park yesterday. </DIV>
<DIV =TailParas>Eric Maloney was the hero as Dolphin came back from a hopeless position to deservedly secure the points.Old Belvedere, though, proved to be dogged opponents and, were it not for a missed tackle in midfield, would have won this match. In fly-half Richie Murphy, an AIB League veteran, they have a scoring machine and full-back Felix Jones (two tries) is a potent attacking threat. However, Dolphin had the will to win and when the going got tough, a formidable back row of captain Ruair&iacute; Geoghegan, James Coughlan and Henry O&rsquo;Flynn showed their class. They have a resolute scrum half in Tom&aacute;s O&rsquo;Leary and the reliable Barry Keeshan, who kept Dolphin in touch when a highly competitive Old Belvedere side threatened to put them to the sword. The visitors dominated the opening exchanges with Murphy kicking them into the lead twice before Keeshan hit back with penalties. Andrew O&rsquo;Driscoll gave Dolphin an unexpected advantage after 38 minutes when he drove over for a try that Keeshan converted. However, the visitors struck back immediately, as Jones raced over for a try and Murphy added the points to level the scores before the latter added a penalty to make it 16-13 at the interval. Nine minutes into the second half, Jones stormed through for another try and Belvedere led 21-13. They threatened to pull away on a couple of occasions, but Fergus Gately brought Dolphin back from the brink when he touched down after a superb rolling maul. Keeshan kicked a further penalty to level the game before Murphy threatened to grab the headlines with a 70th minute drop goal. Keeshan missed a penalty, but in injury time he added the extra bonus points to Moloney&rsquo;s brilliantly orchestrated try. DOLPHIN: D. McCarthy, P. Phelan, E. Maloney, D. Richardson, K. Lynch, B. Keeshan, T. O&rsquo;Leary, F. Gately, A. O&rsquo;Driscoll, C. Condon, R. McGrath, D. Harty, H. O&rsquo;Flynn, J. Coughlan, R. Geoghegan (captain). Replacements: R. Kenneally for Lynch (64), F. McCormack for McGrath (74). OLD BELVEDERE: F. Jones, P. Treacy, E. O&rsquo;Malley, B. Kinsella, K. Barden, R. Murphy, R. Cushion, V. Soden, P. Hogan, M. Wilczuk, B. Nagle, B. Wiedemer, R. Leyden, S. IT was a good weekend for Limerick clubs in the second series of AIB All-Ireland League games.
Garryowen were the only side to lose when they went down to Shannon 6-8 at Dooradoyle, but they got some consolation from the bonus point that leaves them just two points behind the early pace-setters.
For the others it was a spectacular Saturday.
Shannon share top spot with Constitution, UL Bohemian and Galwegians thanks to a second half penalty from Tadhg Bennett and an early try by Pat O'Connor. Full-back Conor Kilroy landed two penalties for the light blues.
Barry Murphy and John Ed O'Connor scored tries for Bohs in their 19-6 win over Lansdowne in the UL Bowl. Their other scores came from three Fergal Lawlor penalties.
There was a sensational win for Young Munster in division two when they travelled to Clonakilty and recorded a 38-3 bonus-point victory with tries from Shane O'Neill, Matt Costelloe, Derek Corcoran, Liam Og Murphy, Paudie McMahon and Mike South.
Mark Connolly added four conversions for Mick Lynch's resurgent side.
Thomond got a welcome away victory over Bective Rangers in Donnybrook. The Limerick side trailed 7-0 within a minute, but responded seven minutes later with a try by centre Brendan Grant which was converted by Declan Cusack. A second half try and conversion by full-back Declan Cusack gave Martin Ryan's side a 14-7 victory.
Old Crescent got a welcome result in a thriller at Rosbrien.
They trailed Malone 10-32 at the break with the northern boys already assured of the bonus point with four tries in the bag.
The second half saw a spectacular recovery from Crescent who squeezed home on a 34-32 margin with two tries by Gareth James and one each from Shane Murphy and Mark Ryan. Out-half James also added two conversions and two penalties.
Malone earned a brace of bonus points from their second visit to Limerick in eight days while Crescent also got a bonus point.
In division three there were wins for both Bruff and Nenagh Ormond.
At Kilballyowen Bruff kept up their good run with a 27-3 victory over Sunday's Well.
Full-back Brendan Deady scored a brace of tries with Finbarr Hogan also getting a touchdown. Brian Cahill kicked two penalties and three conversions.
Nenagh defeated Midleton in a thriller 16-15 and are now just one point behind Bruff and fourth in the table.
Next weekend sees holders Garryowen entertain Dolphin while Shannon and UL Bohs meet in the second local derby of the season at Coonagh.
In division two all three local sides are at home.
Young Munster meet Suttonians, Old Crescent entertain Buccaneers and Thomond are at home to Ballynahinch. Bruff travel to play Old Wesley in division three while Nenagh Ormond are at home to Banbridge.
