View Full Version : Premiership run in...Newcastle or Wasps for the drop?

Having looked like they'd lost touch with Wasps, Newcastle pulled off a pretty surprising win away at Glaws today to leave them four points off Wasps at the foot of the table.
Next weekend, Wasps go to Bath and Newcastle host Sarries.
The weekend after, Newcastle go to Wasps on the last day of the season.
4 for a win, 2 for a draw, try and losing bonus points available.
Any sort of result for Newcastle against Sarries puts real pressure on Wasps.

Looking at their forum, they already appear to worship him with a Stringer9esque devotion.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. I can't wait to see him back in red. Incredible athlete, no major injuries, ever. Fitter than most fellas 10 years his junior and an organisational brain when we are on the front foot second to none. He can herd a rolling maul like a collie with sheep.
Number 9 your time away is nearly up. You're needed back at basecamp

Watched the AP highlights show last night on ITV4 . Wasps were simply dreadful and Newcastle seem to have a new springer in their step.
Its going to be very very close. Wasps on current form could/should be the one to go but have the points cushion. It really depends on whether Newcastle get anything out of the Sarries game, which is a tough ask as Sarries still pushing for the home semi. But stranger things have happened. Newcastle have the inferior points difference against them though which means drawing level with wasps will not suffice.

Hope Exeter beat Saints to final play off place and Munster get the chiefs in the HEC. Amazing what they have done at Sandy Park when everything was set against them from the start, look like a permanent fixture in the AP now. Can't believe Sale are going to be the last HEC club, they have been terrible from what I have seen, Improved for Sheridan coming back but he is off to France so they are going to be cack again; hope Mushy's form doesn't fall off a cliff for Sheridans going.

could'nt agree more about Exeter, their going up and staying within a place for the HEC is truly incredible and mainly down to the club ethos, a lot of the other premiership teams could take a leaf out of their book...they also look like they have their ownn little fortress in sandy park

Exeter are my favourite AP team without a doubt. Great team ethos, to 'star buys' just a good bunch of well organised, well-coached lads who play for eachother. Whilst the likes of Leicester and Sarries are busy lobbying to have salary caps increased and special dispensations etc Exeter have just been plugging away. Surprised that Rob Baxter hasn't got more credit really.

I would too but I'd be hesitant to watch the premiership.

Good enough game between Falcons and Sarries so far. 6-3 Sarries. JP Doyle doing a good job too.

Newcastle should have won there. Shut out by a good Sarries defence, but too many errors from Newcastle. They got the losing BP, which will be enough to give them a shot if Wasps lose at Bath tomorrow.

Wasps lost 17-12 but secured a bonus point. The Toon need a miracle but at least they have a scrum half who won't give in.

Just watching the highlight show on ITV, Bath v Wasps.
Sam Vesty was straight in for a try on 78 mins, acts the complete tool by celebrating before it was touched down - he ends up getting held up.
It was the most unprofessional thing I've seen in a long, long time. It meant that Wasps got a losing BP, which will probably keep them up.

Yep, it did. Falcons have just beaten Wasps 14 - 10 (with a Springer try) but didn't get the 4 try bonus.
Vesty, you utter tool - although Varndell deserved credit for not giving up.

Vesty deserves a solid kick in the crotch from every member of that Falcons squad. His being a showpony may have cost people their livelihood.

What did everyone make of the brawl that happened in the Irish match? Some hits went in - just caught a glimpse of it on Sky News. Some players intent on doing damage even to ones trying to calm the situation!

Still not all over, as usual the premiership's self serving rules, rigged in hypocrisy, could still save one of their own from relegation.
