More drivel from the Examiner this morning - i suppose facts are irrelevant?

Since 2005, Munster have lost 4 (Sale, Wasps, Northampton, London Irish) and won 2 opening day games (Leicester, Montauban).

Prior to this they won 7 and lost 2 (Harlequins, Gloucester)

I suppose it gives Frankie a chance to make a few bob in his new media role!

Of course they are , especially when they threaten to get in
the way of a good story

We won at sale a couple of years ago, was that first or second round?

In 2006 we lost at Sale and Quinnie and Stringer got seriously injured. TOL made a dreadful error and Sale scored from a Munster defensive scrum. Later with Munster dominant, Freddie lost the ball in contact inside the Sale 22 and Billy Whizz ran the length of the pitch to score. We didn't even get a losing BP IIRC.

Roy Keane spoke to the team before the game. Put the hex on us. But we were HEC champs the following summer.

We played Sale in Round 2 and did win there. Montauban in round 1 and we were very lucky.

We have only twice beaten English teams on opening day - Harlequins 2004 (h) and Leicester 2006 (a) - we have lost 6 times to them on first round day - Gloucester in 2002 and Harlequins in 1997 were the others. Only once did we playat home in 8 opening games - what a shocker, shades of Sky there i'd say.

There were a few rare beauties started yesterday all competing that dubious honour.

No, Stringer didn't. Frankie, however, was bloody lucky to
be alive, given that he was about 1mm off a perfect
hangman's break of his neck.

I stand corrected.

i can remember 2 backs making their debut that nightGary Connolly and Anton Pitout - his only appearance in H Cup.

Trevor Halstead came in for next game against Castresand made such a difference.
